Dear Friends,
Here I am posting a talk by Father Lawrence Freeman who is the current Director of the World Community of Christian Meditation. Father Lawrence attending a Raising Hope Conference in Rome recently.
First of all if you are among the many people who have had horrible experiences because of family members or people you met in a church, gurdwara, mosque, synagogue or temple, I understand and I empathize.
Most of us have been taught about a terrifying and impossible to please sadistic god. This is NOT the Holy God I recommend trying to contact when life is too hard. I know what it feels like to feel alone, inadequate and unwanted. I know the pain of rejection.
If you are struggling to keep a roof over your head and to put food on the table, believe me I know what that feels like also. I also know what it feels like to feel forgotten and lonely.
Also if you feel terrified by the thought of sitting still and meditating, I also know what that feels like also. I can guarantee that Father Lawrence is kind, generous and understanding. I have had the pleasure of attending retreats he has led in 2019, 2022 and 2023.
Currently I am trying to declutter physically and digitally and I do not cope well with chaos and mess. So I am not coping and I cannot write anything helpful today. I will point you to Father Lawrence and to Laudate Si.
